The
10th International World-Wide Web Conference (WWW10)
The Tenth International World-Wide
Web Conference (WWW10) will be held in Hong Kong from 1-5 May
in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Over a thousand
delegates from around the world are expected to descend on Hong
Kong to join local Internet researchers, web developers, and e-commerce
specialists. The is the first time the International WWW Conference
is being held in Asia and Hong Kong is honoured to be the host.
The International
World-Wide Web Conferences are events of the International World
Wide Web Conference Committee (IW3C2). They are conferences endorsed
by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) chaired by Tim Berners-Lee,
who created the World Wide Web in 1989 at CERN, the High Energy
Physics Laboratory in Geneva.
The International
WWW Conference is first and foremost a research conference on an
international scale where leading-edge members of the Web community
assemble in high concentration to present the latest in Web technologies,
report on the emerging standards and critically review the most
recent innovation in systems and software.
The WWW10 Programme
will consist of refereed paper sessions, panel sessions, a poster
track, a W3C track, and several specialized tracks including Culture,
E-commerce on the Web, Law and the Web, Vendors Track, Web and Education,
Web Internationalization, and Web and Society. The main conference
will be held from May 2 to 4, preceded by a day of tutorials and
workshops (Day 1) and will conclude with a developers' day (Day
5).
WWW10 is jointly
hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of
Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong
Kong Productivity Council, Cable and Wireless HKT Schoolteam (Asia)
Ltd, The Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, and The Hong
Kong Web Symposium Consortium.
The 7th Hong
Kong Web Symposium (Sym 7)
The Hong Kong
Web Symposium Consortium (HKWebSym) has incorporated its 7th Hong
Kong Web Symposium (Sym 7) as the Education & WWW Track at the WWW10
(Days 2-3, May 2-3) . This is the first time that education has
been given a track within any International WWW Conference.
Registered members
of the Consortium, through sponsorship, can enjoy a special concessionary
rate when participating in the main conference, which includes the
Education Track/Sym 7, other tracks and the plenary sessions. Details
