The Hong Kong Web Symposium
Consortium pledges to meet fully internationally recognized standards
of personal data privacy protection in complying with the requirements
of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. The following information
is given to promote good practice in relation to on-line protection
of privacy, based on the suggestion of the Office of the Privacy
Commissioner for Personal Data in December 1998.
Visiting record
When you visit the homepage
of our web site we record your visit only as a "hit" and do not
collect any personally identifiable information from you. The software
on our server makes a record of your visit that shows only the Domain
Name Server address part of your e-mail address, not your name before
it, e.g. "coolmail.com" from an e-mail address of "PeterWong@coolmail.com",
and only discloses to us later the aggregate information about the
number and types of visitors by reference to their Domain Name Server
address. This information is used by us only for preparing general
statistics on the usage of our website.
On-line forms
When you register for
the Symposium or apply for membership, you will be asked to complete
an on-line form with some personal details. Please appreciate that
we will need such information for our own record-keeping purposes.
We will not release your data to others for any other purpose, e.g.
a marketing agency, etc.
Enquiries
If you have any queries
about our Privacy Policy and Practices, please e-mail them to sym@ssrc.hku.hk.
