About us

The Hong Kong Web Symposium Consortium (HKWebSym) is a company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital, incorporated in Hong Kong on 26 May 2000. HKWebSym was granted non-profit organisation status in  2005. Its members are primarily educators who are committed to, and/or interested in, the use of the Internet for life-long learning.

Among our primary objectives are:

  1. To provide an international forum in Hong Kong for critical reviews and reporting on developments in the use of the Internet in general, and the World Wide Web in particular;
  2. To advance teaching and lifelong learning in school, higher, professional and vocational education;
  3. To seek donations and sponsorships to encourage, support or subsidize the participation of students and teachers in Hong Kong and other parts of the People's Republic of China in the annual symposium or any other significant or worthwhile information technology activities, including conferences, seminars, workshops, educational programmes, etc.;
  4. To establish, subsidise, support, co-operate with or otherwise assist any person or body of persons engaged in any educational, cultural, benevolent, charitable, welfare or similar activity and to contribute money for and to take part in any such activities as may be thought fit.

We welcome people from education, government departments and IT companies interested in education to apply for individual or corporate membership.
