The role of the annual Hong Kong Web Symposium

The annual Hong Kong Web Symposium, since its inception in late 1994 at The University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, has aimed to provide an international forum for critical reviews and reporting on developments in the use of the Internet in general, and the World Wide Web in particular, to advance teaching and lifelong learning in Hong Kong school, higher, professional and vocational education. Information about past Symposia is available at http://www.hkwebsym.org.hk/

The Consortium believes that the Hong Kong Web Symposium provides a much-needed high profile, international academic forum for all the local educational sectors, with an emphasis on reflective, critical appraisals of experiences and attempts to use information technology seriously. Hong Kong teachers and students could then draw inspiration from the well-articulated and well-presented results and findings of important projects from leading pioneers and experts in Hong Kong and from overseas. In short, the Symposium lives the Internet ideal of sharing across all boundaries.
